Damian Williams, Attorney for the Southern District of New York, said on Monday that authorities seized 50,676 bitcoins associated with the Silk Road darknet market in November.

The Silk Road was an illegal marketplace on the dark web that operated between 2011 and 2013 that primarily used bitcoin as a payment method. The site collapsed after the arrest of its creator, Ross Ulbricht.
